Key accomplishments include:• Access Seattle—created an innovative partnership with construction inspectors and small business advocates to proactively manage construction activity in Seattle’s highest growth neighborhoods. The pilot program was so successful with business owners and neighborhood residents that the Mayor and City Council created permanent staff capacity and budget authority to sustain the program. • Development Review Program—redirected existing staff to coordinate regulatory review and ensure that projects deliver high quality right of way design elements. The success of the program resulted in private investment in public realm elements including two new blocks of protected bike lane, the full funding of a fourth street car for the South Lake Union Streetcar line.• Public Space Management 5-Year Work Program— Created a task force of community leaders, design professionals, city staff and elected officials to develop a five-year work plan. The program ramped up delivery of parklets, streateries, mobile food trucks, and play streets and also addressed the more utilitarian aspects of the public realm including telecom cabinets and signs• Trees and Sidewalks Operational Plan—Broke a decades long stalemate between transportation engineers and arborists about fixing sidewalks impacted by tree roots. Addressed high profile community and political aspects of this program and developed an operational plan resulting in improved conditions for trees and more sustainable sidewalk fixes citywide

Led a team of eight professional staff and consultants to deliver the following foundational and nationally recognized projects: • Right of Way Improvements Manual (2005)—led a team of transportation, land use, utility, information technology and parks executives and staff to redefine Seattle’s public realm design standards. Delivered the city’s first web-only, consolidated design standards manual. Developed a series of street typologies that integrated land use requirements and street classifications. Integrated new pedestrian and bicycle design standards, traffic calming designs and street design concept plans to leverage private investment• Complete Streets Ordinance (2007)—wrote and delivered the first Complete Streets ordinance in the United States. Implemented as part of the Bridging the Gap Transportation Levy that directed no less than 18% of the $360M levy be spent on pedestrian and bicycle improvements. Established the complete streets review and delivery program for capital project implementation• Pedestrian Master Plan (2009)—Seattle was the first large city in the nation to develop a robust, data- driven pedestrian master plan that integrates safety, land use, health and equity data to build the plan and implementation priorities.
