A Chartered Accountant trained with Thomson Mclintock which became part of KPMG principally in audit, but also in tax and small business. Eventually moved into consultancy projects increasingly in Health, including supporting the evaluation of emerging NHS Trusts in the early 1990's.I joined the NHS in 1993 when I was appointed as Chief Finance Officer at the Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Trust. I have since worked as a Director of Finance/ CFO in Ambulance Services and NHS Commissioning (PCT Specialised and CCG) well as spending time at the South West Strategic Health Authority. I returned from almost two years at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust where I was working principally on contracting and finance integration projects including moving to a single ledger, and worked for six months in the STP in Cornwall on Estates and back office before semi-retiring in May 2017. I was appointed as a Non-Executive Director of Somerset Partnership NHS Foundation Trust in June 2017 and a Joint Non Executive Director at Taunton and Somerset NHS Foundation Trust. I am now a Non-Executive Director and Chair of Audit of the new Somerset NHS Foundation Trust. I am working in a portfolio of interim/ part time/consultancy roles during the next few years before finally hanging up my calculator.
