Barbara Hackley CNM PhD is the Program Manager, Center for Research, Evaluation, and Preventive Health of Montefiore Bronx Health Collective. She oversees a team of research analysts that supports the development, implementation, and evaluation of clinical programming at Federally Qualified Health Center. In that capacity, she developed the Resiliency Initiative, which is a multidisciplinary effort to mitigate stress in pregnant women and families with young children. Key elements of the Resiliency Initiative include universal screening for parental stress and support in prenatal and pediatric care, perinatal group care, intensive counseling for families in need, linkages to community resources, and maternal-infant dyadic therapy. In addition, she launched the Doctorate in Midwifery at Jefferson in 2017, which graduated its first class of doctors in midwifery in August 2019. She has served previously as faculty in midwifery programs at Georgetown, Columbia, and Yale Universities. She is the recipient of numerous awards recognizing her teaching abilities, scholarly work, and clinical expertise in helping to expand the practice base of midwifery to include more primary and preventative care. Her current research focuses on the impact of perinatal group care on mothers and children, and the effectiveness of screening for social determinants of health in prenatal and pediatric care.
