Train Dispatcher
CurrentReview and write daily reports and post incident reports checking for accuracy and completeness using strong analytical skills.• Comply with Federal regulations 49 CFR Parts 217, 219, 225, 228, 234, and 236 as well as railroad policies, procedures and safety rules while supervising daily operations.• Direct supervision of the Caltrain Control Center Train Dispatchers (CCTD) and Communication Clerks/PIDS/Crew Callers in accordance with Company policies, procedures, contractual requirements and applicable laws and regulations.• Provide prudent and efficient train movement decisions in accordance with with CFR 49 Regulation 217 and all safety policies and Hazmat procedures ensuring compliance and timely execution of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Emergency Plans, and Special Instructions.• Coordinate the implementation of emergency plans while administering emergency phone calls within the Operations Department and with other departments and/or agencies in accordance with the appropriate protocol to identify patterns of service failures for investigation and correction.• Responsible for conducting Operational Efficiency Testing for dispatchers and other employees assuring dispatching staff is proficient in physical characteristics of territories they are qualified on.
