Barbara “Bobbie” Ibarra just retired as Executive Director of Miami Homes For All formerly known as The Miami Coalition for the Homeless, whose mission is to promote community collaboration to prevent and end homelessness in South Florida. Prior to joining the Coalition, Bobbie served as Vice President/ General Manager of Jungle Island, Miami’s major entertainment and tourist venue having been with them during the relocation of its original 1936 Pinecrest home as Parrot Jungle to downtown Miami. Bobbie also is an Adjunct Professor and Community Education Instructor at Miami Dace College. Bobbie also served as the Executive Director of the Independent Living Initiative, an auxiliary program under Our Kids of Miami-Dade/Monroe, Inc. for transitioning foster youth. Prior to taking on this effort, Bobbie served as founding President of Our Kids.Bobbie served as Vice President for Human Resources for Mayor’s Jewelers and Senior Vice President for Citibank. Before transitioning to the private sector, Bobbie spent over fifteen years in government working with Miami Dade County ( she served as Director of Personnel), the Urban Mass Transportation Administration in Washington, DC and Atlanta, Georgia and with the City of Philadelphia. Bobbie has a Bachelor’s degree in Social Welfare and a Masters degree in Counseling Psychology/Education from Temple University. Some of Bobbie’s community involvements have included her serving on the National Funders Together To End Homelessness Board of Directors and the Florida Community Loan Fund Board of Directors. She recently joined the Board of Directors of the South Florida Community Development Coalition. She also served six years(1994) on the Miami-Dade College Board of Trustees. She has been an active member of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce where she currently serves on the Executive Committee. She is a 2005 graduate of Leadership Florida and has received numerous community awards.
