A company's greatest asset is its employees and managing issues arising from the employment relationship is one of the keys to a successful business. Barbara is a labor and employment lawyer who counsels employers in all aspects of the employment relationship and the implications of the labor and employment laws on those relationships. She assists clients with business and human resources issues and compliance with state and federal labor and employment laws. Barbara serves as an independent investigator in connection with employment disputes. She has completed the AWI Training Institute for Workplace Investigators and holds the designation of AWI-CH. She also represents employers and employees in civil litigation in both state and federal courts, as well as before administrative agencies. In addition, she provides research and writing assistance on a wide range of both employment and procedural issues. Barbara is a member of the Association of Workplace Investigators, the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), and the Human Resources Association of Central Ohio (HRACO). She served as HRACO's VP for Government Affairs from 2012 through 2017. In addition, Barbara is the past chair of the Labor & Employment Law Committee of the Columbus Bar Association. She is also a member of the Labor and Employment Law Section of the Ohio State Bar Association and is currently serving on the OSBA Amicus Committee. Barbara has been recognized as an Ohio Super Lawyer for 2005-2006 and 2013-2024 in Labor & Employment Law. In 2017 and 2018, she was also recognized as one of the Top 25 Women Lawyers in the Columbus area.Barbara served on the Board of GETDOT, an organization that raises money to support children's charities in Franklin County through networking, from 2010 until 2019. She has served on the boards of the Stadium Scholarship Alumni Society and the Ohio State University Student Loan Foundation. She is a past president of both boards.
