About Barbara Maklakov

When I was asked why I wanted to enter nursing school I simply stated the truth, which was, "My purpose in life is to take care of people." I'm a hard worker and have proven so having been inducted to Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society upon graduation (after starting with a GPA of 1.7). I have learned in my 5 years of nursing that I thrive in busy, fast paced conditions, as they give me a challenge and I love to prove to myself that I can do it (and do it well). I am currently working in the Emergency Department. Although I think I would be happiest in critical care, my long term career goal would be to become a nursing professor. I was a teachers assistant for human anatomy and physiology I, and as new staff members join our unit I love being given the opportunity to help them. I am compassionate, loyal, determined and eager to please. My biggest weakness would be that I take what people say and do to heart and have a hard time letting things "roll off my shoulders."
