I am a Public Historian with over 25 years of experience working in museums, historic sites and other public history institutions. I did my undergraduate work at Wesleyan University and hold a Ph.D. in history from Brown University. I have taught early American history and material culture and have developed and delivered numerous public programs, including K-12 education programs, and professional development for K-16 educators. I have extensive grant writing experience. I am especially interested in linking local history to broader national and global historical narratives and themes, and the means, methods, and processes used for teaching American History to a diverse public audience including new media content, film, interpretative museum programs and exhibits, and K-16 classroom teaching. My research interests include the American Revolution and the Founding, the early National Period, Shays’ Rebellion, and African and Native American presence and experience in early rural New England. I have many years of experience writing history content for the web and have collaborated on several award-winning history websites.
