Barbara J. Mayfield, MS, RDN, LD, FAND, is a nutrition communicator leading other nutrition professionals to create and deliver compelling messages that are evidence-based, meaningful, memorable, and motivating. Barb is an experienced author and speaker, with an engaging and inspiring signature style. Her website: NutritionCommunicator.com provides coaching and resources, and showcases other nutrition communicators. She is Editor-in-Chief of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics' book “Communicating Nutrition: The Authoritative Guide,” coordinating the work of 57 contributing authors. Barb served 16+ years on the faculty of the Nutrition Science Department at Purdue University where she taught future nutrition professionals to be effective nutrition communicators. Prior to teaching college students, Barb worked with families as an early intervention nutrition specialist, and also served the WIC Program for 20 years as a nutrition educator, high-risk counselor, breastfeeding coordinator and local program coordinator. Barb was founder and president of Noteworthy Creations, a company dedicated to high quality nutrition education resources for 17 years. She has published nutrition curricula for preschoolers, early elementary, high school and college, including an electronic textbook for college students titled Nutrition for Everyone.
