About Barbara Mccarthy
As Enterprise Risk Officer I was a resource for risk prevention and control for acute care, inpatient behavioral health, and insured physician practices - responsible for risk prevention and control for both clinical and non-clinical risks across a variety of settings. I supported the medical malpractice program and am a resource for the compliance, privacy, and safety programs. Past roles include critical care and inpatient nursing management; performance improvement, infection control, safety, privacy, and employee health leadership as well as Joint Commission coordination. I have been an active member of both state (MSHRM) and national (ASHRM) risk management associations for 20 years and was state chapter president in 2009. I was a member of the ASHRM board, was immediate past-president of ASHRM, & am currently an ERM faculty member. I was the recipient of ASHRM Risk Manager of the Year 2020, MSHRM Risk Manager of the Year 2021 & received the Vision of Hope award 2021 by Melmark New England. I am also currently Chair of the Rockport MA Board of Health.
