Former High School Spanish Teacher came to Illinois State University as an Assistant Professor in Secondary Teacher Education in 2001. The first part time administrative position began in 2003 as Coordinator for the electronic portfolio system for teacher education. The second part time administrative position was coordinating secondary teacher education program in the Department of Curriculum & Instruction. Tenure and promotion to Associate Professor took place in 2007, and the first full time administrative position began in 2008 as Assistant Chair in 2008. In 2010, I became Chair, and the name of the unit was changed to the School of Teaching & Learning in 2012, and my title changed to Director. In 2014, I started my current position as Associate Dean in the College of Education. My current duties include oversight of internal grants, assistance with external grants, and facilitation of school partnerships and international partnerships. I serve on the Governance Committee of Kappa Delta Pi and serve as faculty counselor for ISU’s Mu chapter of the collegiate chapter. i also serve on the Board of Trustees for Southland College Prep Charter High School and member of the International Association of Laboratory Schools. I teach courses to future high school teachers, primarily TCH 216: Principles & Practices for Teaching & Learning in Secondary School. My research focus revolves around University Laboratory Schools that are public schools in the United States, comparing their missions, visions, and philosophies and identifying how they meet them.
