CurrentOver 80 organizations and 10,000 members interested in preserving and promoting Nordic culture are members of Sons of Norway in these ten states. Children, women and men are members and anyone interested in 'anything Nordic' may become a member. The organization which has about 55,000 members located in Canada, Norway and the United States. We are intereted in the history, the immigration to the New World. genealogy, cultural skills such as rosemaling, knitting, figure carving, foods, chip carving, sports and health, music, literature, folk dancing and more. Our programs include present life in these Nordic countries which include Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden. District ONE served 10,000 members in 80 local lodges. We are a fraternal benefit society organized in 1895 to offer benefits to the immigrants and today we are also an insurance company benefitting members. We are the largest Norwegian ethnic organization . . . each group in the three countries meets monthly presenting some aspect about the Nordic culture, food and fun.
