I started off my career in nursing in the intensive care from 1995 to 2009 I often worked 2 jobs and got my home health experience while also working in intensive care I also tried case management while working at Chirstus Spohn after moving to the Corpus Christi area, I wanted more experience so I did travel nursing for a while so I could see what the rest of the world was doing. My long term goal was to complete my Master’s degree and become a nursing instructor which I did but I wanted more patient contact so I became a Director of nursing which I love because I think I can make a difference in the lives of the residents by ensuring they receive the care they deserve, I left and went traveling for the last year because I felt I needed a break and wanted to see how the other nursing homes compared to the Corpus Christi area. I feel like we do a much better than some and I have learned new and exciting things I think would be useful in our homes such as the charts Mars and doctors’ orders being on the computers. Stand down meetings in the afternoons to ensure everyone is accomplishing their goals each day.
