I am thrilled to be helping students find their paths in my current role as the Career Specialist at Lowcountry Leadership Charter School. After 20 years of teaching in the career and technology fields, I am finding this to be a rewarding and natural progression of my experience and skills. I received my bachelor's degree in retail management and merchandising from the University of South Carolina then decided to take that expertise into teaching. I have taught Career and Technology Education to both high school and middle school students for 20 years. The courses I've taught follow a broad range of industry topics and have given me a strong foundation and expertise for this role. My years of experience have also afforded me the opportunity to be advisor for numerous clubs and activities, serve on numerous committees and stay up to date on the latest career and technology information through ongoing professional development. In addition, I have written and created much of the curriculum taught as there is not a lot of existing curriculum in these areas and that which does exist is often out of date. The nature of teaching leads to working with teams, enjoying collaboration and trusting colleagues to be a part of overall success. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to use my experience and talents in this new phase of my career.
