Barbara A. Shaw, LCSW, is Executive Director of Hands On Hartford. She is a veteran social worker with more than 35 years of experience working collaboratively with others to plan, provide, and evaluate services with and for individuals and families affected by poverty, homelessness, HIV/AIDS, complex health conditions, mental illness and substance use. Barbara is deeply committed to ensuring that the agency serves neighbors responsively and impactfully while engaging volunteers and connecting communities from the Hands On Hartford Center for Community in the Parkville neighborhood. She was director of programs at Hands On Hartford from 2002-2010 and was named Executive Director in 2011. Prior to that, she worked for 15 years at two other community non-profit organizations in Hartford in executive leadership positions. She earned her BSW and MSW degrees from Western New England College and the University of Connecticut School of Social Work, respectively, and received her license in clinical social work in 1998.
