The National Association for Shoplifting Prevention (NASP) is a private nonprofit tax-exempt [501(c)(3)] organization whose mission is to raise public awareness about the harmful effects of shoplifting on youth, families and communities, unite public opinion toward constructive solutions, deliver needed programs & services & engage community action in prevention efforts to improve the lives of those affected & reduce the number of people who become involved. NASP's evidence-based shoplifter education programs are used in courts nationwide as a condition of diversion, sentence or probation. While NASP's primary work is in the court system, NASP's programs are also available to retail loss prevention asset protection teams through the Court Alternative Program (CAP) and the Say No To Shoplifting campaign. The Crime Accountability Partnership Program (CAP) is a pre-charge program for low-level retail theft offenders CAP saves time and budget for law enforcement, holds offenders accountable* and provides first-time shoplifters with education that enables offenders to change their behavior and become contributing members of their communities. Say No To Shoplifting (www.SayNoToShoplifting.org) is a Juvenile Shoplifter Accountability & Parent Support Program* that retailers can use as a community service to the families of youthful offenders - in an effort to give youth a "second chance" yet still hold them accountable for their actions & prevent future offenses & further penetration into retail crime & the criminal justice system.*All NASP shoplifter programs are offender-paid.
