About Barbara Steinfeld

My tourism career began in Israel where I coordinated tours and then became a licensed tour guide after a 16-month course of study (in Hebrew!) When I returned to Nebraska, I worked in tourism for the state economic development department and then moved to Florida as international tourism manager for Tampa, focusing on South America, Europe and the Caribbean, opening representation offices in Brazil and the UK. I left Florida for Oregon in 1997 and haven't looked back. I was the fourth cultural tourism director in the country to be hired by a CVB and evolved into the VP of tourism for Portland. I started a new chapter as the president & CEO of Visit TriValley in California after 16 years in Oregon. I am past chair of US Travel's Destination Council and the Cultural Tourism Alliance, which I co-founded. Currently serve on the board of DMA West. Specialties: Cultural tourism development, public speaking, international tourism sales, team management, fluent in Spanish and Hebrew.
