I have been working in construction for a majority of my career. Before my career in construction I worked in the food industry where I learned customer service, quality of service and team work. I worked in a warehouse as a shipping and receiving clerk which gave me a base knowledge of logistics and inventory. Once finishing night school I was hired by my instructor as an accounts payable clerk at McDonnel Douglas. I learned a lot about jobcosting there. I then started my career in construction with Trinity Contractors. During my twelve year employment with Trinity I learned a multitude of skills. I started out as an accounts payable clerk and at the end of my employment was an executive administrative assistant taking care of the CFO, COO and several other division supervisors. I learned basic jobcosting to handling small jobs on my own. I learn about auto cad design, take off and estimating, information systems, inventory, training new employees, interviewing and hiring, contract administration, creating processes so the flow of work was more productive, craft employee tracking and productivity. I have taken several courses in project management so I can understand how construction projects work. I've been taught basic scheduling and have some knowledge of P6. I love to work with new computer programs to see what they can do for me. I am very skilled at Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Powerpoint, Adobe, JDE, Prolog, HeavyJob and am quick to learn new programs. I love to train people. I like to see the "ah hah" moment they get when something finally clicks. It gives me a great sense of accomplishment. My time with the electrical contractor was a great learning experience on how to create processes and make the work flow more productive. I have had challenges working with the Federal Government and with Contracts both the Owner and Subcontractor contracts. I also do a lot of work with certified payrolls and FAR regulations. My current position is with the IT department. I work as a liaison between the operations department and the IT department helping with anything from day to day problem solving to helping create processes and training for new programs introduced to the company.
