Practicing case load model of care has again allowed me to reinvent myself within my profession. It consists of a follow-through relationship with a family from first booking, through labour and birth to two weeks postnatal. Over this time I am able to develop a relationship with family members and work toward a birth positive experience in a non-threatening environment.This position provides a rang of clinical and non clinical experience and more autonomous midwifery and general nursing practice.

A range of clinical and administration tasks including staff, immunisation clinics in fixed and mobile locations. Pre employment screening and assessment.

Involving several different programs including MMR (1998), HBV / VZV /Boostrix (2004-2007) and HPV (2008) and a wide age range 5-18 years. Clinics where set up in the school environment and involved management of cold chain, vaccine preparation and completion of vaccination in mobile environment.

Camperdown / Westmead

NETS provides emergency advice and care for sick neonates and children in NSW. Occasional international and interstate retrievals are undertaken. My job was to work with the team doctor to stabilise the child at the referring hospital and transport them to an accepting hospital usually in Sydney. There is clearly a lot more to the job not withstanding the long, long hours and exhaustion, but also relatively autonomous and empowering for nurses.
