Performing the duties of an Assistant Principal In addition to being a Special Education teacher, I also perform the duties of an assistant principal.I provide discipline for students that had been referred for a variety of reasons and coordinated In School Suspension as well as Saturday School.I took an active role in meeting with students and parents regarding attendance issues, tardies and failing grades.I worked on a variety of projects that included vertical alignment, constructing a ninth grade center, organized an ISS room with curriculum and rules as well as working on a literacy project to help incorporate reading into the classroom.I conducted informal evaluations and counseled with teachers about various classroom management techniques and curriculum projects. I was the liaison between the school and parents as well as parents and external agencies.I provided counseling for families who were experiencing severe parent/child conflict as well as one on one mentoring for students from varying ages, diverse backgrounds and economic classes.

I conducted interviews, made referrals to external agencies and completed necessary paperwork to ensure that clients received benefits in a timely manner.I operated within strict guidelines while meeting stringent deadlines. I was able to effectively manage 400 open sections in a high stress environment.
