Welcome and thank you for taking the time to check out my profile. As a trusted non-profit executive with over twenty years of experience designing and executing philanthropic partnerships, I am dedicated to making a meaningful difference in the lives of women and girls, boys and men. I do this through faithful stewarding of resources for impact, facilitating strategic partnerships, creating opportunities for shared learning and collective problem-solving. Currently, with the WNC Journalism Foundation, I am addressing the need for better access to local news and information in order to encourage civic participation and build the social cohesion vital for small towns. I welcome you to contact me with ideas for partnerships, funding resources, examples how other rural areas or other suggestions! In my "free" time, I'm working on the problem of mobility/lack of rural public transportation (that is not based on roads). My neighbor and I co-founded Waiting for the Train, a non-profit grassroots effort to champion the return of passenger rail to western North Carolina. I welcome connections and ideas to help with that endeavor!I'm a life-long learner with various professional studies as well as an executive MBA in non-profit management from the University of Geneva and a Bachelors’ degree in Public Policy from Duke University. My experience spans the globe and includes living and working in developing countries, at global headquarters of large international organizations, big-ish cities and small rural towns, affording me direct knowledge of what works (and perhaps more importantly, what doesn’t!)I’m big on accountability and efficiency, balanced with a healthy dose of humility and humanity.
