I am passionate about helping others, whether it is by counseling with them one-on-one or by helping create policy that benefits people who need assistance.In my day job as a writer for the Michigan House of Representatives Democratic Caucus, I work for 11 Representatives. My writing helps communicate their vision of a better Michigan and a more just society to their constituents and others in the House. After hours, I work to help people more directly. I have volunteered for more than 2.5 years at a crisis intervention center, progressing from a hotline crisis counselor to a one-on-one provider of counseling to survivors of sexual assault. Through my initiative, the center started a support group for sexual assault survivors. I am also a results-oriented leader. Elected to The Listening Ear's board of directors in 2010, I now spearhead our effort to raise a quarter million dollars, money needed to establish the Capital Area Sexual Assault Response Center.Specialties: Writing, editing, crisis counseling, sexual assault counseling, fundraising, interviewing
