I am a multicultural communicator who was nominated twice for the Pulitzer Prize, America’s top journalism award. I am committed to helping individuals and organizations get the resources they need to make their vision a reality. I grew up in Michigan. My life changed dramatically at age 13, when my family moved to Paris. Since then, I have spent many years stepping into cultures and looking back with new eyes at my own. I have lived in six countries (U.S., France, Brazil, Portugal, Italy and Cambodia) on four continents and have learned four languages (French, Spanish, Portuguese and Italian) on top of my native English. I spent 10 years as a daily newspaper reporter, covering topics including government, health and business. As a freelancer whose clients have included Time Magazine and Reuters, I understand how to promote public awareness through media coverage. I started my career as a researcher at Congressional Quarterly in Washington, DC, the city where I now live. I earned a bachelor's degree in journalism and political science from the University of Michigan.I have applied my journalism and global skills to many volunteer projects. I started a community newspaper at a housing project in Lisbon, Portugal. I served as president of a 300-member women’s group in Milan, Italy, which raised funds for severely disabled adults. I spent three months as a media adviser in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. I won grants for an organization that sends books to people in prison across the U.S. I'm grateful to have spent my life surrounded by creative and inspiring people who are doing good in the world.
