About Barbara Burt, Psy.D.

I am a licensed psychologist who specializes in interventions for depression, anxiety, ADHD, and distress from past trauma. My approach is to work with the whole person considering the physical and spiritual aspects of life as well as the mental and emotional ones. I am trained in methods to treat trauma including trauma-informed care EMDR, and am a qualified Cogmed practitioner. In addition, I am active with the Marriage and Family Therapists Consortium of San Diego and Imperial Counties, an organization of educators and supervisors for MFT students. I have been a frequent speaker on suicide prevention at conferences for youth, parents, and pastors in the community. I hold a doctorate in psychology from Southern California Seminary, a master’s degree in Marriage, Family and Child Counseling from University of La Verne and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from University of California, San Diego. My wide variety of professional experience includes working in private counseling practice, in agency and school settings as well as having served on the board of directors of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists.
