I have been dedicated to designing and producing top quality gifts/promotional items for retailers, businesses, artists and private customers since 1969.The landscapes & seascapes of the West Coast of Scotland have been a major influence in my work over the years. I lived there from the age of 2 until I attended Glasgow School of Art in 1964. My 5 years in Glasgow were in stark contrast to life in Argyll, but they also provided me with a wealth of ideas and opportunities for the future. In 1969 I met my husband-to-be Brian, who was the only person I had met who did not think my single minded plan to start a pottery was complete madness! I taught art & pottery at Cumbernauld High School for 2 years, while at evenings & weekends Brian, his pals and I established the original workshop in Larbert.He was a talented engineer & electrician, who could turn his hand to most skills,which included building my first throwing wheel - still in use today!I happily shared my production space with engines and racing cars - and still enjoy motor sport, especially speed Hillclimbing. The highlight of my year is the Revival Meeting at Bo'ness in September.My first big commission came as a result of my Art School Diploma Show, and was a large 7' x 4' ceramic mural which still decorates the Ladies Waiting Room at Queen Street Station.In the 70's & 80's, many of my designs were awarded the Design Council's coveted black & white label for "Quality Scottish Souvenirs", and I lectured in schools on "Design in Industry" to encourage entrepreneurship. I was honoured by the business community in Falkirk in 2011 with a "LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD", which was amazing, but I have no desire to retire from designing and manufacturing in Scotland. It is too exciting!I am lucky to be living and working in an area which is so green, vibrant & business-friendly, and has so many iconic places to visit within just a few miles. 01324 5544330
