My early interest years ago was Early Childhood Education, having always been interested in brain development. Now I apply that same knowledge to older people dealing with gradual loss of brain function, working to find activities to stimulate their cognitive abilities and make their days pleasant and enjoyable. Basically, in my geriatric care management practice, we work as a Senior Life Coach or Patient Advocate, helping individuals and couples along with their families as they navigate the morass of senior health care and work towards enjoying quality of life every day.

We act as a Patient Advocate for physician visits, hospitalizations and Care Transitions when discharged from hospital. Our goal is to maximize independence and minimize risk to help people age in place. We work with individuals for placement into an assisted living facility, a rehab center or a nursing home for long term care. Once they are in the facility, we continue to monitor their care, to ensure they are enjoying the best quality of life possible. Some of our clients have family in the local area and some do not. If our client and their family agree that it would be better to have them live near family in another state, we help make that happen.

Certified Beyond Driving With Dignity ProfessionalKeeping Us Safe Jun 2013 - Feb 2018Two of our employees, Kate Svoboda and Stacie Cleveland, went through the training with Keeping Us Safe in order to continue to expand awareness of the risks of driving for our elders and what can be done to keep people driving safer longer into their lives. The Beyond Driving with Dignity approach is similar to the strategy we use with all our clients when there is a need to redefine what 'independence' actually means to them. We work with them to assess their current abilities and determine what supports are needed to keep them functioning as well as possible, even if that might mean retirement from driving. Then, we can be there to assist with the transition to that next phase of life. There is more to life than driving! -
