The last few years have allowed me to travel a new and adventurous path leading to a different career as an author. Early in 2014, I launched my first work of fiction, Beyond Love, and in May 2014, a second book, Come Hear the Whisper of Time was released. The Legend of the Eagle Feather, a children's chapter book came out in 2015. Theo's Diary, a novel of love, war, and regret was released in 2016, and my latest novel, Beyond a Dream, is finished and was launched in May 2020. Exciting times! In 2021 A Place by the Bay was released, a novel about love, trust and new beginnings. My latest book, The Far Side of the Rainbow is now finished and published. Exciting times. My life has taken me down many roads, some I would never have chosen, but each journey has added to my education and experience, which partnered with my wild and vivid imagination, allows me insight into the human spirit. I am really enjoying the ride, even though I hold on tight to reality.When I retired many years ago as CEO and Medical Administrator for the Department of Surgery at a large University Medical Center, I turned to the law, which offered me the opportunity to realize the needs of the community. I became a Judge for many years and retired again. But not for long.As a volunteer, I worked for the Attorney General of Arizona and the County Juvenile Court. I become a certified mediator, working primarily with family court and child protective services. There are simply not enough volunteers and too many children in need of help.In 1984, the Superior Court of San Bernardino, California, started a program, which was called the Child Advocacy Program, later renamed when we affiliated with the newly formed CASA program. I completed an extensive training program required to execute the duties of Guardian ad Litem, appointed by and representing the San Bernardino County Superior Court, Juvenile Division. There were times, due to the lack of volunteers when my caseload numbered more than ten children. But the need is so great, and there is never enough help. A child should not be asked to sit and wait for someone to come to their rescue.I have also worked as a volunteer for the Arizona Council for CASA and served on the Board of Directors for three years. I live in the delicate southwest desert of Arizona with my little dogs and an imagination that keeps me up at night. My small travel bag is always packed, just waiting to accompany me to the local airport and a new adventure.
