I have the distinct privilege to work with motivated, committed students at Aalto University, Helsinki Finland (Mikkeli campus). As Visiting Faculty, I facilitate financial and management accounting courses for students who are pursuing a Bachelor in International Business. These courses are delivered in the traditional classroom over 3 weeks in an intensive daily class. The students who are from all over the world are drawn to this international business program taught only in English. I am thrilled to be able to have a job that allows me to say, "I can't believe I'm paid to do this! That was fun!" I am interested in new or innovative ways to engage students. I follow Dee Fink's Significant Learning Experience taxonomy and believe it is important to make some kind of lasting change. Learning journals are one tool to encourage students to reflect on how they learn, recall and apply foundational knowledge, integrate the learning experience into their lives while being cognizant of others and themselves.
