Barbara DeMarco is a Governmental Affairs Consultant specializing in gaming, education, technology and agricultural policy as well as procurement and corporate/business development.Since 1994, she has been instrumental in over 3 dozen gaming related bills becoming law including internet and sports wagering as well as account deposit wagering and exchange wagering. She also was the lead on legislation allowing for an independent data center in Atlantic City for online wagering. One of the few women nationally with a state policy expertise in this area, she is often invited to speak at national and regional forums. She also has spoken and written widely on the issue of women in atypical professions. To this end, she spends her time mentoring young women professionally and personally. Since its inception, her name has appeared on Senate Majority Leader Loretta Weinberg's list of the most powerful and influential women for InsiderNJ. She has also received statewide awards from The Arc of NJ and Resolve of NJ for her advocacy work. In 2022, she was appointed to the Executive Board of the Greater Atlantic City Chamber of Commerce. Beginning in July 2023, she will hold the title of Chair-elect followed by Chairperson from 2025-2027. A strong advocate for education reform and school choice, Ms. DeMarco believes that every child deserves a quality education regardless of where he or she resides. Barbara chaired the New Jersey School Choice and Education Reform Alliance’s Subcommittees on preschool education and special education.From technology to infrastructure, Barbara also works with clients on procurement and business development. For example, in June 2019 she was “point” on a project that resulted in the opening of a world class data center in the Atlantic City Convention Center. The project was done in a public/private partnership with the NJ Casino Reinvestment Development Authority and her client, Continent 8 Technologies.Barbara is from Hammonton, NJ, the Blueberry capital of the World. For years, her family owned one of Ocean Spray's largest and most successful cranberry farms. It is here she cut her teeth on agricultural policy She also spent over a decade advocating for the preservation of the horse racing and breeding industries in N.J. She continues championing farming interests through her current work with the National Pork Producers Council. Barbara has one son, Christopher. He and his wife Nikki, are 2015 graduates of the Mendoza School of Business at the University of Notre Dame. They are both employed in the financial sector.
