In partnership with the Board of Directors, lead nonprofit arts organization. Major responsibilities include strategic planning, program creation and implementation, fundraising (grant writing, major gifts, individual giving, business sponsorships), operations, and finance.

In partnership with Board, lead a membership organization with a budget of $4 million, dedicated to building community through lifelong education and inspiration. Key achievements:Developed strategic plans to address significant challenges to the organization. Led the effort to adopt new programs and educational approaches including on-line learning. Created program assessment strategy.Revitalized fundraising through collaboration with volunteer leaders and clergy resulting in annual fundraising events, mail/on-line solicitations, and a major gift campaign that met or exceeded their financial goals. Created branding strategy to successfully communicate the organization’s mission to the public. Migrated marketing delivery from print to on-line media, redesigned website, initiated organizational Facebook pages and extensive use of email communications. Designed and implemented acquisition and retention programs, policies, and procedures enabling the organization to on-board 50 to 100 new member families per year and to retain its membership base of over 800 families. Reorganized operations to achieve the highest level of organizational effectiveness with fewer staff. Promoted positive collaboration between volunteer and professional leadership creating a strong feeling of community within the organization.

Worked collaboratively with the Board of Directors, CEO and staff to build operational capacity in a $6 million membership organization with multiple revenue streams from a broad community spectrum (ethnicity, sexual orientation and religions).Reorganized financial oversight, analysis, reporting, and operations in order to increase decision oriented, accurate information. Designed and implemented new budgeting, general ledger, payroll, fundraising, and membership database systems, which in the words of the CEO “revolutionized” the organization. Refocused and expanded membership services department, increasing number of members and member satisfaction. Expanded new member outreach activities, developed customer friendly reception protocols, expanded and hired membership staff. Developed analytic reports focusing on membership activities and cross sales of fitness services. Built new open access playground with a budget of $200,000 that increased outdoor play opportunities for all children. Partnered with volunteer leaders to raise funds, developed and wrote request for proposals, identified appropriate vendors, analyzed and design and financial proposals, reviewed contracts, and oversaw construction. Created human resources processes that aligned with the strategic goals of the organization. Researched and wrote employee manual, designed employee evaluation system, evaluated benefit offerings and vendors, created training programs.

For program focusing on disenfranchised immigrant community, initiated fundraising programs, raising over $3 million/year. Revitalized the women’s division and young leadership group, organized fundraising events, developed direct mail campaigns, and wrote many grant proposals that were successful in raising money to support specific programs. Identified and successfully solicited major gift donors.

Partnered with founder to create a $3 million private foundation focusing on education, social responsibility, health care, and conflict resolution. Developed foundation goals, performed research to identify top organizations working in the foundation’s areas of interest, and worked with grantees to develop programs that fulfilled the goals. Presented work of the foundation to media and aligned organizations.
