General Practice

I was a civil litigator in the firm's general liablity group. My practice areas included premises liability, products liability and labor law.

I represented claimants under the New York Workers’ Compensation Law. I managed a 200+ client caseload. I guided clients through the workers' compensation process and provided them with daily assistance and represented them at hearings. I negotiated with insurance adjusters for schedule loss of use stipulations and Section 32 settlements. I drafted summations, appeals and rebuttals. In addition, I drafted trial briefs on behalf of claimants seeking benefits under the Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act. I also drafted no fault arbitration position statements on behalf of physicians. In addition, I conducted legal research and drafted memoranda of law on an assortment of issues for the firm's general civil litigation department.

I represented children in neglect and abuse cases and children seeking Special Immigrant Juvenile status.

I drafted background guides for constitutional law debate coaches and graded student outlines.

I participated in a classroom training program on educational methodology where I created distinct lesson plans on criminal law and trial advocacy skills. I taught these materials in an intensive summer institute for highly motivated high school students from across NYC. The institutute culminated in a mock trial competition at the SDNY Courthouse.

I drafted wills, healthcare proxies, and powers of attorney. I conducted legal research on probate issues.

I assisted attorneys representing clients under New York Mental Hygiene Law. Matters covered included: the hospitalization of psychiatric patients, the civil confinement of sex offenders, and guardianships. I focused on adult guardianships pursuant to MHL §81: I reviewed petitions for guardianships, investigated facts, and analyzed whether the appointment of a guardian was necessary in formal court evaluator reports.
