About Barbara Nevins Taylor

You can do more than one thing, but you can't do more than one thing at a time. That's why I compartmentalize to put some of my passions to work. I narrate audiobooks. I practice journalism on ConsumerMojo.com and I teach introduction to journalism and video journalism at The City College of New York.I began learning to narrate audiobooks through the SAG/AFTRA Foundation during the summer of 2015 and recorded my first book that fall. Since then, I performed 21 books and look forward to doing a lot more. This new twist actually brought me back to what I learned from master teachers at the High School of Performing Arts. With coaching help, I've been able to tap back into the craft to develop characters and perform their stories. My journalism life continues on ConsumerMojo.com, a site I founded in 2012. Our mission:"We Make Complicated Stuff Clear." We provide truthful news about a range of often under-reported subjects. We cover financial scams including pension advance problems, 55 Plus issues including Medicare, as well as credit, immigrant issues, student loans, mortgages and more. We've been traveling a lot and reporting about interesting places where cultures and religions have intersected over the centuries. In addition we produce premium video content for not-for-profits, individuals and companies.I teach Television and video journalism at The City College of New York and hope to inspire at least one person each semester to become a serious journalist. As an Assistant Professor at Brooklyn College I taught video reporting and writing. My students won the national student Emmy Award for Best Newscast in 2014.In 2012, at Hunter College, I taught investigative video reporting as the Jack Newfield Visiting Professor.I read fiction, love going to the theater, workout at Crunch, practice Tai Chi and earned a black belt in traditional Japanese karate. I'm a jazz fan, a good home cook and an urban gardener.

Listed skills include Storytelling, Journalism, Video, Video Production, and 27 others.

You can do more than one thing, but you can do more than one thing at a time. I have three professions.I began to learn how to narrate audio books during the summer of 2015 and narrated my first book in the fall of 2015. So far, I've learned a lot and performed 14 books.
