Harborview Medical Center is a 413-bed facility, county hospital, and is the only designated Level 1 adult and pediatric trauma and burn center in Washington State serving as the regional trauma and burn center for Alaska, Montana and Idaho. The hospital employs 4,500 employees, serves 17,300 admissions, 248,000 clinic visits, and 62,000 emergency room visits annually. I am responsible for planning, directing, and controlling the professional, operational, marketing, financial, personnel and educational activities of nutrition and food services, gift shop, and the hospitality business management teams. I develop strategic plans, sets goals, oversees their implementation and ensures continued, evidence-based performance for the hospitality department. This responsibility includes maintaining professional standards and compliance with federal, state and local regulatory agencies, and assures a high level of patient and customer satisfaction. Additionally, I also assure best safety practices for food handling, supervise work and personnel performance of the teams, maintain high standards for quality menu planning, have oversight of purchasing and storage of food and supplies, make selections of capital expenditures, and maintaining a safe working environment. And finally, I build sustaining partnerships with food vendors and group purchasing organizations (GPO) to drive cost reductions, practice fiscal responsibility, and increase revenue in retail locations.
