Barbara Sherman is a New York City based public policy professional specializing in issue advocacy, management, and program design. She joined the administration of New York City Public Advocate James to build a progressive agenda centered on the creating and protecting affordable housing, ensure equity in our public school system and advocating for marginalized communities. Barbara has conducted research, authored investigative reports and develop policy proposals that seek to support fairness and greater transparency within the city. For more than 25 years, Barbara has worked in not -for -profits and city government developing policies and strategies advising elected officials on complex social and policy matters. She has expertise in the area of education and early child care policy. As Director of Programs for NYC Department of Health,Ryan White, Barbara was integral in designing programs for the mental health and criminal justice communities infected and affected by HIV/AIDS.
