Senior Research ▪ Transgenic ▪ Mice/Rats ▪ Training ▪ Presentations ▪ Testing Protocols

U Of Penn

Greater Philadelphia Area

I was brought on board U of Penn back in 1997. I spent 13 years working independently, producing animal models for breast cancer research, performing advanced transgenic techniques, managed and refined test protocols for breeding mice and rat colonies, directed work of technicians in compliance with animal care, biohazard and radiation safety regulations. KEY ACCOMPLISHMENTS INCLUDE:• Located qualified new source of PMS (NHPP) resulting in increased fertilization yields with concomitant reduced costs and was adopted by other transgenic groups.• Created new breeding program for in-bred strain of mice i.e. “Pregnancy on Demand”. It reduced cost by up to 1/3 of vender’s price and reduced associated space requirements, and, it provided higher accuracy in predicting DOB. The abstract was published in Transgenic Research Magazine October 2008 and was a poster exhibit at ISTT conference, Toronto.• Presented poster at the ISTT Conference in Berlin, on “A Method for Increasing the Production of Transgenic Rats by use of Nutritional Supplements” - see Transgenic Research Magazine, March 2010. • Established informational exchanges with other facilities both in the US and worldwide.• Trained lab colleagues on IP and SC Injection of rodents for transgenic procedures.• Recipient of 2009 Award for Enhancement of Animal Welfare at the Delaware Valley Branch.Research Specialist, Cancer Center (1997 to 2000)Techniques – Nuclear Injection, Embryo Implantation, knock out and knock in transgenic mice, DNA and RNA isolation, PCR, tissue culture, Southern blot analysis, restriction endonucleoses, mice breeding.• Successfully mated r2, 112, sp44, cg27, introduced new protocols for mice breeding, identified, and implemented correlation between age/weight and fertility. For detailed list of accomplishments, please contact me directly.
