In my first career, I counseled terminally ill patients and their families. Grief work is hard enough, but it soon became obvious that poor financial planning could be devastating for the survivors and create a painful regret for the patient. When it was time for me to do something else with my life, I chose the financial services arena, starting with insurance products for family protection and then graduating to a full spectrum of investment services.
