Previously I worked as an attorney with Everaert Advocaten and Van Der Woude de Graaf Advocaten in Amsterdam specializing in immigration and refugee law; specifically medical cases, family reunification (including with children), refugee law, EU law and international adoption. Prior to working in private practice I worked as a research and policy officer at the Race Discrimination Unit of the Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission in Sydney, Australia; was the assistant of the chairperson of the advisory committee of experts to the Netherlands Minister for Immigration and Integration on the legal possibilities concerning prohibitions of the burqa and spent 6 months working with the Special Rapporteur for Freedom of Religion or Belief and the Special Rapporteur for the Sale of Children, Child prostitution and Child pornography, at the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Geneva, Switzerland. I am passionate about human rights, refugee/migrants rights and politics.I like to travel (with a special interest in Africa, where I lived as a child) read (and write) and discuss what was in today's newspapers over a glass of wine in the sunshine.
