My working experience has lead me down a few paths in the past several years. After the closing of our family business where I worked along side my parents and siblings for 20 years helping run a multi-million dollar business I ventured into the media world where I spent 14 years (12 at the Kingston Whig-Standard and 2 at Metroland Media-EMC). With our family business I learned valuable lessons on running your own business - doing everything from payroll, inventory control, accounts payable, customer service, purchasing and managing the staff. The media world fine tuned my organizational and time management skills for sure. In a fast pace, deadline oriented environment, it is a skill I was certainly glad to have. It was a great experience working at the Kingston Whig-Standard and the EMC as it gave me the opportunity to get to know many of the business community and the owners!Working in the non-profit world for the past 4 years has allowed me the opportunity to work with a very diverse group of people - people who give their time and efforts for a cause they believe in. Working with 100's of women and men (some of who have very strong personalities) allowed me the opportunity to hone in on my problem solving skills!I truly enjoy people and work on the principle you get what you give and every person deserves to be dealt with with the respect you would want yourself whether it is in business or personal.
