Her expertise is in problem solving, process development and improvement, financial systems development, fiscal management, financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting and human resources management. She has a proven record of developing and implementing financial and operational controls that improve the P&L bottom line and competitively position the organization.Barb excels at building structure and process in companies that are about to move out of the start-up phase. Her strengths lie in shoring up or building out the operational, financial and human resource functions in order for it to be successful and in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.As CFO of GatherUp, Barb built out the areas of finance, compliance & long-term planning as well as HR. The goal was sale of the company, so Barb led the valuation work and insured that financial reporting and human resources were in compliance. The partners were approached with an offer in August of 2019. Barb worked on due diligence, letter of intent & purchase agreement negotiations for the next few months and the company was successfully sold on October 31, 2019. Before joining GatherUp as CFO, Barb was the CFO of Spyder Trap, a digital marketing and technology company. As part of the leadership team, Barb helped to build the company and, ultimately, to help facilitate it's sale. Prior to that, Barb provided financial & operational consulting services for nearly 13 years, mainly concentrated in the medical device industry. She has a background in both the for-profit and non-profit sectors, SaaS, and has worked with international and U.S.-based clients. Barb also has experience taking companies from privately held to publicly held, and the SEC reporting and compliance that accompanies that complex transition.Barb holds a B.S in Accounting and passed the Certified Public Accountant examination in November 1994. Barb has been recognized by the Minneapolis/St Paul Business Journal as a 2015 CFO of the Year in the small private company category.
