Co Author/ResearcherHybrid Pedagogy Nov 2013 - Apr 2014Saint PaulI am also a published author in academia and the article has been sited in multiple articles over the past year, one of which was Barrett Golding for PBS’ Idea Lab. This was a piece that I collaborated on with my writing partner, Maha Bali, a native of Egypt and a professor at the American University in Cairo. Our research was on asynchronous vs. synchronous communication as it pertains to the delivery of content in higher education. It was published within the confines of Hybrid Pedagogy and you can find it here. It turned out to be quite a fascinating project; all research and writing had been done asynchronously via email, Google Docs, and Twitter. We met in the discussion board forums in a MOOC course offered via University of Edinburgh called E-Learning and Digital Cultures. We recently turned that into a podcast so we have now heard each other’s voices but we’ve never had any synchronous communication.
