As a consultant, Barend Gerretsen applies his expertise in public health and community health to support various organizations and initiatives in improving health outcomes and equity. He has over 15 years of experience in health systems strengthening, program evaluation, and capacity building, working with diverse partners and stakeholders in different contexts and settings.Barend holds an MSc in Health Systems Management from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, and a MD from the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. He is also a member of the Supervisory Board of AMREF Flying Doctors, the largest African-led health development organization, and the board of EKANN, an expert center for children and adolescents who are new in the Netherlands. He is passionate about advancing health and social justice, and empowering communities and professionals to achieve their full potential.
