As Assistant Professor Socio-Sptial Planning at the Department of Spatial Planning and Environment, I teach courses on the Bachelor and Master Level. Currently, I'm developing a course on Social Justice and Urban Inequality. How do different institutional arrangements result in spatial inequality? Critical urban theory, political-economy and post-policy perspectives will be used to explain contemporary urban trends. Furthermore, the course will raise a discussion among students about the role of spatial planners countering inequality-generating mechanisms.At the Department of Spatial Planning and Environment, I continue working on housing issues, especially in relation to urban governance and economic vulnerability.

The main focus of my PhD project is on the interplay between housing careers or other life-course trajectories and outcomes in terms of economic well-being in different institutional contexts. Especially housing wealth as an indicator of economic well-being receives much attention. European governments have stimulated homeownership in different ways, and generated different outcomes of various birth cohorts and social classes. This project aims to reveal the mechanisms of increasing levels of housing wealth inequality in various European housing regimes.I teach sociology and social policy courses at both the Bachelor and the Master level.

At the ministry of domestic affairs, I conducted research on the social consequences of the privatization of social housing in the Netherlands. Information on more than 500 neighborhoods in 31 middle-sized and large cities was used. This internship resulted in the publication of a book (see publications).

As a home care provider, I cleaned and did grocery shopping for the clients. The most important part of the job, is the social aspect: kitchen table talks with elderly with limited social contacts. It learned me to communicate with people from various social and ethnic backgrounds.

I gave bike tours in Dutch, English and German (2 / 3 hours) to discover the historic, architectural and social beauty of Amsterdam. At this job, I learned to speak in front of groups and to manage group dynamics.
