The Calgary Cancer Center is a 1,300,000 sq. ft. state of the art hospital currently under construction at the Foothills Campus. Barett had the privilege to act as the Electrical BIM Lead for the multi-office electrical team overseeing production and design implementation throughout SD, DD, CD phases and now in construction administration. He incorporated database management software dRofus into the BIM workflow to manage power and data requirements for all Mechanical and F&E equipment and created automated QC processes to ensure the electrical design was coordinated with the current equipment layouts. The project was awarded the CanBIM - Design and Engineering award in 2018.While continuing to support the Calgary Cancer construction team, Barett has also started a new project as the Electrical BIM Lead for the BMO Centre Expansion and will be one of the lead electrical designers on the project.

While successfully completing the APEGA Engineer In Training (E.I.T.) program, Barett was responsible for the design and implementation of multiple commercial and healthcare projects including the SAIT Taste Market in downtown Calgary. He acted as Electrical Job Captain for the successful pursuit of the 1.4 billion dollar Calgary Cancer Center in collaboration with PCL, Stantec, Dialog and S&A.

As a Lead Electrical Designer Barett was responsible for design and project management of multiple commercial, education, residential and light industrial projects. Projects were approached with a cradle to grave methodology where the designers and project managers were responsible for all phases of the project from schematic design through to contract administration and project closeout. Barett also supervised the production team and provided guidance to the junior staff.
