Barış Can Bilgin is a creative technologist, composer, and experience designer, with a career spanning two decades as a musician. His expertise encompasses programming, experience design, music composition, sound design and interactivity. The pandemic prompted Bilgin to reconsider the stability of the music and art sectors, leading to a significant shift in his academic pursuits. He chose to transition from a master's program in sonic arts to another master's in interactive media design, driven by a keen interest in UX, HCI, and XR.Bilgin's technical proficiency includes programming languages such as Python, GD Script, Processing, R, C++, HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, Lisp, Arduino, and Unity. He is also adept with a range of software and tools, including Adobe XD, Blender, Meta Spark AR, Lens Studio, 3dsMax, Inkscape, Aseprite, Watchface Studio, Figma, Orange Data Mining, Pure Data, various code and hex editors, Xmind, Finale, Musescore, Ableton Live, Audacity, Microsoft Excel, and other MS Office tools.His project portfolio features innovative works in augmented and virtual realities, including Turkey's first augmented reality concert, where the audience interacted with sounds and accompanied the musicians on stage. Bilgin has also designed a virtual reality composers' museum and created interactive augmented reality Instagram filters that allow users to play sounds with facial gestures. One of these filters earned a Social Gender Equality Award from Meta in a hackathon. Additionally, he has designed watch faces for WearOS smartwatches. In 2022, Bilgin presented an academic paper at the Creative Industries Symposium, coining a new term for the game music industry.Driven by a passion for continuous self-improvement, Bilgin is actively seeking a long-term, full-time role in experience design, game design, VR/AR, UX research, programming, front-end development, or other creative industries.
