Promoted to this position, I began participating in setting more of the strategic direction for my team, ensuring that efforts aligned with company objectives. I continued to manage accounts once spot quotes were accepted, and supported three to four other team members in the quoting and load-building process as well as managing the load from pickup to delivery. I was tasked with preventing or containing hazardous situations on a ship including flooding and fires. In addition to maintaining the equipment on board and being able to operate the different firefighting systems, I was one of the lead firefighting instructors, training crewmen to ensure they were ready to handle any emergency.
