I can't stand #dirtystreets! I mean this both literally and socially. My name is Barnabas (Encourager) Uba (Father) Shakur (Thankful to God), or BUS—a God-led social entrepreneur from Trinidad. At 19, an internship under Russell Simmons at Phat Farm and RUSH Communications headquarters in NYC ignited my passion for entrepreneurship and social impact.At 21, I founded Bed Stuy’s Project Re-Generation (PR-G), a comprehensive program focused on leadership, academic support, and community involvement for high school students. PR-G was both a learning curve and a stepping stone, teaching me about strategic planning, leadership, and community engagement.In 2016, I launched Foot Soldiers, LLC, a beacon of cleanliness in Brooklyn. It’s more than a sanitation company working with homeowners, property managers and businesses; we're a vehicle for change, employing locals and uplifting communities. In 2021 we launched Adopt-a-Block initiative and created 63 full-time jobs in partnership with NYC's Mayor's Office, nonprofits, and community development corporations. We were awarded the Best Sanitation Business in Brooklyn for 2022 and 2023 and our online reviews stand testament to our reliability and years of consistent efforts. When I'm not busy making the streets cleaner and communities better, I'm a proud husband, dad, brother and son. My interests include audiobooks (I'm a recovering avid reader), spiritual development, child development, marriage development, martial arts, losing in online chess, strategic planning, family connections, personal evolution, comedy, art, music, hunting, hanging with old time friends and fostering new authentic relationships with movers and shakers (AKA Bangers).If you're reading this, you're likely someone who values community, cleanliness, youth or business.
