As deputy head of division with specific responsibility for teaching, I lead the divisional teaching committee to coordinate and direct teaching activities across the Product Design, Engineering Product Design, Mechanical Engineering, and Advanced Vehicle Engineering courses. I work closely with the Head of Division to develop the departmental strategy, allocate budgets, and coordinate activities of colleagues in the division in all student-related matters.

Lecturer on the BSc Engineering Product Design, BSc Product Design, and MSc Mechanical Engineering courses. Currently Module Leader for Portfolio Engineering Projects (L6), Innovation and Enterprise (L6) Computer Aided Design 1 & 2 (L4 & L5) modules. Other subjects I teach in various modules includecreativity techniques, ergonomics, prototyping (physical and digital), electronics and physical computing, manufacturing processes and DFM, principles of CNC and toolpath programming, materials selection, foundation engineering mathematics, structural analysis and FEA.I supervise 8-10 final year student major projects each year from BSc Design and MSc Mechanical Engineering courses.

Course leadership of the BSc course in Engineering Product Design. Responsible for curriculum strategy and development, student experience, external examiner and professional body liaison, design and management of student exhibitions, and course related internal administration. In this role I successfully applied for and achieved accreditation of the course for Incorporated Engineer level with the Engineering Council, and Partial Chartered Technological Product Designer with the Institution of Engineering Designers, for the first time in it's history.recruitment and widening participation initiatives

I lead the extra-currcular student team at LSBU on the “Aim93” Human Powered Vehicle project; the team are designing a fully fared recumbent bicycle with the objective of breaking the World Human Powered Speed Record. In 2022 our vehicle 'Marlow' reached our highest speed yet of 65.64 mph, making pilot Noah Phillips the 7th fastest Briton ever under self-propulsion. Details available at www.aim93.com

GoRolloe is hardware company focused on merging clean air technology with the transportation sector. We are developing a hardware device that captures non-exhaust emissions from vehicles. I advise on technology development and prototyping as we develop a range of products to full market commercialisation.

Start-up company to develop the IP generated through BSc/MSc project relating to bi-directional hydrofoils in kite surfing - granted PCT patent no. WO 2007088351 (A1) – “Water Sports Equipment”.Seed funded through awards from the LSBU Enterprise Associate scheme (£50,000 equivalent), and the Emerald Fund (£40,000).

Member of a dedicated team of 4 designing medical devices in the tracheotomy range. Duties included design, modelling, and testing of rapid prototyped parts developed in SolidWorks. A two month secondment to the QA department was spent in investigating product defects and instigating corrective and preventive actions in the production lines. Named inventor on GB patent applications GB 2429919 (B) – “Adjustable Tracheostomy Tube” and GB 2418618 (A) - “Tracheostomy Apparatus”.
