The Center for City Park Excellence provides data, information, consulting, and thought leadership that helps cities understand park system performance, makes the case for parks, and execute informed decisions about park improvements. The research explores how parks provide economic, ecological, and social value to their users.- Compose articles and reports to engage, inform, and empower local park and conservation advocates.- Provide research support for studies, reports, and consulting work covering a wide range of projects.- Work with external partners and agencies across the country and coordinate with colleagues in multiple offices to produce reports and collect and disseminate information.- Collect data and information via surveys, internet research, and phone interviews and maintain the Center’s authoritative database on urban park systems.

Kids’ Food Basket is a West Michigan nonprofit dedicated to attacking childhood hunger by providing nutritious evening meals to kids, filling the gap between what schools and parents can provide, and engaging the community through volunteering and education.-Played a key role in the growth and success of the Kids Helping Kids program which engages youth in the Kids' Food Basket mission.- Built high school Youth Action Board from the ground up, growing student participation from 25 to 110 over four years with an annual impact in excess of $40,000.- Started and managed annual Orange Day event, an annual community-wide awareness and volunteer event, including developing messaging and engagement strategies.- Oversaw the creation of mission-specific children’s books as a new way to share the Kids’ Food Basket story with young people.- Established and strengthened partnerships in the greater Grand Rapids community.- Data analysis, research, and mapping of hunger for current and future service areas.
