• Advised customers on rationalization strategies focused on reducing costs of the infrastructure mix: hardware and software licensing – improving the processing resources over software licensing costs ratio• Designed a server consolidation/rationalization solution for a major bank, cutting related expenditure by 35% (140 thousand € - net present value over 4 years). The ROI model incorporated: servers’ maintenance costs, servers’ acquisition costs, servers’ power consumption, HVAC power consumption and migration costs.• Led the technical sales effort for the largest single deal ever made until that point in the history of the company (1,1 million €)• Teamed with the service delivery manager for the largest systems management outsourcing contract the company has, in developing, new, insightful reporting for the service. This effort led to increased visibility of the quality of the service, which lead to the renewal of the contract for 3 years.

• Managed daily operations of a major authentication system supporting the entire worldwide employee base (100 thousand plus users).• Managed the directory servers (Sun ONE Directory Server) supporting the core of the Identity Management System, which integrated with OS authentication, mainframe and a vast majority of the business applications universe.• Led a systems improvement strategy successfully decreasing unplanned downtime of the directory servers platform. The improvements consisted on standardization of software versions in the platform and streamlining of the replication scheme.

• Managed a $1 million plus professional services project for Nextel Argentina and Nextel Mexico. This project involved a complete transformation of the hardware and software stack used by mobile data applications – from a direct data access paradigm to a SOA paradigm.• Supervised and coordinated vendors’ implementation, maximizing deliverables quality• Designed and implemented (PL/SQL and Java) a solution for a complex data synchronization problem: a need to create a consistent view of device and user information, with very low response time; the original data, coming from the billing and provisioning systems was made available through a set of tables refreshed independently at changing time intervals.

• Managed and mentored a team of 10 systems infrastructure consultants, securing continuous revenue from their engagements• Designed the infrastructure solution of a completely new home and corporate banking infrastructure (1 million plus users) for the leading Portuguese bank, Caixa Geral de Depósitos, comprising the following components: servers, systems, server security, network, web server and application server software, high availability, and load balancing• Managed the customer side implementation and migration project (previous item), sourcing and articulating the resources from the different customer departments, meeting all the set deadlines and goals.• Managed the technical effort of several infrastructure and security solutions bids for several banking and telco customers, leading to new sales• Led the technical effort for the sale of the first Business Continuity Plan ever sold by the company.
