Reporting Tool DeveloperVolt Workforce Solutions Nov 2010 - May 2011Buffalo, New York, UsReporting project focus was to remove need for human intervention while reducing errors and inconsistences in the process of generating standardized, weekly required reports. We were able to reduce report production time from 15 person hours a week to a few minutes a week. I built into the process automation, scalability and standardizations.Responsibilities:• Initiated a three phase process to collect requirements and develop an internally used tool for the AMD Lean team to centralize and standardize data used for executive reporting.• First phase involved building an Access front end to assist users with collecting and managing data of their respective projects. The goal was to centralize the data so everyone can access/view the same data in the same tool. This data was stored in several lists on SharePoint which was acting as a staging relational database. The same Access tool used complex custom VB code to automatically generate three standard reports. Two reports were standard data reports while the third required many dynamic elements to be drawn depending on the data. The user interface was designed to allow users to quickly enter/maintain data and pull specific reports depending on several filter selections. I used Visual Studio to build custom web for the SharePoint to better maintain stored data.• Second phase involved replacing the SharePoint lists with a SQL database that would allow for higher performance and scalability. I was responsible for developing and implementing the SQL database. The Access front end was modified to interface with the SQL database. Visual Studio 2010 • Third phase involves replacing the Access front end with web based tool. Code (probably C# or Java) would then be used to process data and send to SQL Data Reporting Services for the custom reports.•Built and maintained SharePoint presence that was used to house documents, KPI’s, meeting workspaces and an ad-hoc relational database. -
